Talk to your cash flow, from Claude or ChatGPT

Talk to your cash flow, from Claude or ChatGPT

The small questions are the ones that count

When we talk about financial data, we usually picture the big moments: closing the month, the conversation with your accountant, the meeting where everyone looks at the numbers. You have time to open the app then anyway.

But the decisions that change a company are rarely made there. They're made in between - maybe on a call with a client, halfway through a negotiation, when someone asks for a discount and you have three seconds to work out what it actually costs you. In those moments there's no time to build a report. And the harder it is to ask, the less often you ask.

It isn't the difficulty of the answer that stops you. It's the distance to it.

What we built

We wanted to give our customers something more, that is why ThinkOut now has two new things: an MCP server and a public API.

It sounds technical, but the idea behind it is simple: your financial data should be available to you anytime you need it.

With the MCP, you connect your ThinkOut account to an AI assistant, be it Claude, ChatGPT, or whichever you already use, and ask in your own words questions like "What's my balance right now, across all accounts?" "Which clients paid me less this year than last year?" You ask from your phone, from the car, from the middle of a conversation you were already having.

With the API, your ThinkOut data goes into your own systems: the report you build anyway, the team dashboard, the automation that posts your cash position on Monday morning. No exports, no copying between files.

Two different routes, one idea: the information comes to where you are.

From report to conversation

Offering the possibility to talk to your data was always on our top priorities. Asking questions like "Top five suppliers this quarter?" and then, naturally: "Why did the second one grow against last year?", and then: "Show me the transactions” will give you the relevant insights you always needed.

Not to mention the questions you'd never have opened a report for, like "What's the most expensive tool subscription I'm paying for?". It's a question you can ask in fifteen seconds, and sometimes you find an amount you'd never have looked at. Simple, quick, at your fingertips.

Something to lean on, whenever you need

When you've worked with numbers for years, you start to feel their absence as background noise: the sense that the answer exists somewhere, just not now and not here.

What we set out to build is the opposite of that. Somewhere you go when you have the question, not when you have the time. Something that doesn't ask you to stop what you're doing in order to find out what you need to know.

A decision made with the numbers in front of you is a different thing from one made on instinct. Not always a different decision, but always yours, made with confidence - maybe on a Tuesday at midday, with your most important supplier on the phone.

Clarity, not magic

The connection with your AI assistant is read-only, so it can't change anything in your account: no edits, no categorising, no payments. Currently, it can't see forecasts or budgets, it works with what has happened, not with what you've planned. It can't see invoices, contracts or headcount, because it works from money that has actually moved through your accounts. But that is only for now, because we are working on something bigger than that.

Connecting takes a few minutes and needs no technical knowledge. Here's how.

If you get stuck connecting, or an answer doesn't look right, write to us at support@thinkout.io. It helps a lot if you tell us what you asked and what came back.

One thing worth knowing: the conversation happens inside the assistant you chose (Claude, ChatGPT or another) so the answers pass through it and that provider's own terms apply as well. In short, pick an assistant you'd be equally comfortable discussing anything else about your company with.
